In Benin City, the capital of Edo State, at the University of Benin Sports Complex, Tinubu addressed the crowd.

Obasanjo, he said, is “jealous” of his accomplishments, with “the blind” leading “the blind,” he alleged.

The former President’s support for Obi, according to Tinubu, won’t be effective or have any impact on the outcome of the election in the coming weeks.

As governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, during the time when Obasanjo was president, Tinubu recalled that Obasanjo reportedly punished him and millions of Lagos people by withholding cash that belonged to the city’s commercial hub.

Additionally, Tinubu charged corruption against Obasanjo and Atiku Abubakar, who was vice president under Obasanjo and is currently the PDP’s nominee for president.

He claimed that through a dubious privatization process, both Tinubu and Atiku had taken the Federal Government’s allocation for Lagos and utilized “Nigeria’s monies” to purchase automobiles for their girlfriends.

“Can that man suggest a Nigerian leader for you? Is that not dispatching an agent to rob you? At the event, Tinubu questioned APC supporters. “A blind man leading a blind man. I apologize; I do not mean to offend anyone who are blind. But it won’t work, and they’ll fall into a ditch instead.

When I discuss Obasanjo and Obi, I often say that “one who does not know the road cannot demonstrate the way.” On January 1, 2023, 85-year-old Obasanjo ignored 17 candidates and endorsed Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, saying he has an advantage over other contenders, despite the numerous patronizing visits of presidential aspirants to his Abeokuta home.

Candidates for the APC and the PDP, among others, were enraged by the support of the former Nigerian military ruler of state between February 1976 and October 1979. In a similar vein, Obi received the support of Pan Niger Delta Forum Chairman Edwin Clark on Tuesday.

Obi is well-liked by young people who are desirous of real national change and has recently been placed ahead of other contenders in various pre-election polls.
