Barrister Omobolanle Raheem, a female attorney, was fatally shot yesterday in the Lekki neighborhood by a trigger-happy cop.
According to a witness statement, Barrister Omobolanle and her husband were riding in a car when the incident occurred.
According to the informant, the police officer and his squad set up unauthorized roadblocks where they extracted money from drivers before the tragic incident. They reportedly arrived from the Ajiwe police station.
The source informed our correspondent that the tragic occurrence took place when she was returning from the Ajah under the bridge Christmas ceremony.
The source continued, “The policeman is from Ajiwe station. Barr, her husband, was operating the vehicle. Omobolanle and her spouse were seated up front.
“The policeman instructed them to pull into a parking spot, and they required the car in front to move so they could pull in properly. Immediately, the policeman fired a close-range shot directly into her chest. The remaining police officers on duty there fled after learning what had occurred.
“After a time, some police officers arrived and transported her body to the Yaba mortuary without getting permission from her family. Her family has now discovered the location where her body was transferred.
You may remember that the Lekki neighborhood is rife with police abuse. Inspector Jonathan Kampani of the police shot and killed Jelili Bakare only a year ago.
