JAPA: Prior to submitting an application for master’s admission to Canada, Nigerian students must have six essential documents.

Nigerian students must have a number of documents in order to apply for admission to Canadian universities.

However, there are some students who wish to study in Canada but are unaware of the documentation they need to have in order to be admitted to the institutions.

1. International passport

A Nigerian international passport is required if you are a Nigerian student attempting to enroll in a Canadian university.

Your Nigerian citizenship can be verified with the aid of your international passport. This document is crucial because Canadian schools will recognize you as an international student and will use your passport to identify your nation.

The Nigerian Immigration Service is responsible for issuing the Nigerian international passport. Before beginning the admissions process, you must submit an application for it.

2. Academic transcript

You must show your academic transcript if you are a Nigerian student applying to Canadian universities for master’s admission. Your academic record sheds light on how well you performed in past classes. It chronicles all of your academic progress from the first year until the last. Your academic transcript will be provided by the Nigerian university where you earned your degree. You will be required to produce a copy of it when requesting admission to Canadian schools.

3. Statement of purpose

Students from Nigeria who wish to pursue academic studies in Canada must submit a copy of their statement of intent. This letter explains your motivations for applying to the university and argues that you ought to be admitted to the program of your choice. Writing your statement of purpose correctly and in accordance with the requirements of the school you are applying to is advantageous.

4. Reference letters

You should obtain at least three reference letters if you want to be considered for admission to Canadian colleges. A reference letter is a letter of support from someone who is familiar with you and speaks well of you. The number of reference letters that Nigerian students must submit varies by school. Depending on what the school requires, you often ask your lecturer or your manager at work for a reference letter.

5. IELTS/TOEFL or any other English test

You are an international student as a Nigerian student looking to pursue a degree in Canada, so you must demonstrate your command of the English language.

This is why many Canadian colleges need you to take the IELTS, TOEFL, or another type of standardized English test. Although many institutions no longer demand this, having it could increase your chances of getting accepted.

6. University certificate

In order to enroll in a master’s program at a Canadian university, Nigerian applicants are frequently required to upload a copy of their diploma.

The school would need proof that you have in fact earned a degree from a recognized institution in Nigeria. Before starting the application procedure for admission, you need visit your local university in Nigeria and get your certificate.
