The closure of the school was announced by Folasade Adefisayo, the Lagos State Commissioner for Education.

Chrisland argued that Whitney sagged in public, rejecting suggestions of foul play in her passing.
At least three times in the past three years, Chrisland School Lagos has been the focal point of a crisis.
After a sex tape made by students at Chrisland leaked online during an outing in 2022, four teachers were charged. For defiling a two-year-old girl in 2016, an ex-teacher of the school’s branch in VGC received a 60-year prison sentence in 2019.
