On January 12, 20223, the former governor of Anambra State delivered this advise at a discussion with the University of Nigeria’s Business School.

Before the presidential election on February 25, the gathering in Nsukka, Enugu State, was a continuation of his nationwide efforts.

Nigeria, according to Obi, is currently in a precarious position, and only someone who is sound-minded and in good health could be trusted to lead the nation’s affairs once President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office.

He went on to say that the two most important qualities voters should look for in candidates before electing them to govern the country for the next four years are character and trust.

“This country is sick, and should not be given to a sick individual,” said Obi. I don’t want to imply that someone is ill. We don’t want people who can’t stand for 30 minutes because we have been here for more than two hours.

“Debates are held during elections in the United States. Barack Obama once responded to a questioner who asked him a personal question. However, when someone in Nigeria wishes to run for office, we don’t know his exact age, his name, or the schools he attended. He is trying to guide everyone even though no one is aware of his true identity.

“I’m Peter Obi, a Nigerian. I may state that I attended University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Christ The King College. Today’s VC and DVC were both classmates of mine. We both entered and graduated from college in the same year. My seniors and juniors, who I attended school with, are present in this room. Why do we now have individuals without classmates? This has major significance.

“Afe Babalola once admitted to me that he never got the chance to attend a formal education. Nothing is wrong with that. Many persons who have achieved success in life never attended a formal education.
