Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, set out on a campaign tour of significant South-East Asian markets on Tuesday.

After receiving the state’s Ndigbo community’s unreserved support for his reelection, Sanwo-Olu visited the markets in advance of Saturday’s governorship poll.

There was a boisterous greeting for Sanwo-Olu during an open forum sponsored by traders, under the banner of the Auto Spare Parts And Machinery Dealers Association, in Trade Fair Complex, Ojo.

At the open forum, the governor vowed to protect Ndigbo businesses and assets in Lagos State.

Moreover, Sanwo-Olu met an aggregation of Igbo traders throughout 58 main markets in Lagos.

The Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association, which represents the traders, received unanimous support from them for the governor’s reelection.

The popular mobile phone, computer, and other electronics bazaar (Computer Village) in Ikeja is where the governor also interacted with vendors.

Concerns expressed about the safety of the companies and assets owned by South-East traders in Lagos led to the formation of the engagements.

Sanwo-Olu allayed the anxieties of the Igbo traders, telling them that Lagos will continue to be a melting pot for assuage Nigerians.

He promised that his administration would keep fostering security and promoting peaceful coexistence among the state’s various ethnic nationalities.

“I am here to express my gratitude for your public support of my modest self and to express my solidarity with you. I am confident that your community will show its support for me on Saturday by casting the largest number of votes for me.

“You are not supporting us because of anything; rather, you think we deserve it because my staff and I have worked so hard to enhance your wellbeing.

“A brand-new general hospital will be available in Ojo very soon to meet your demands. You may have noticed the construction of expressways and bridges along this route. We have also been awarded a rail project into Okokomaiko, which will facilitate the movement of people and products.
