After going silent for more than two weeks, Kanye West, the rapper who now goes by the name Ye, issued his first tweets.

He tweeted on Sunday to see if his account was active.

Testing Testing Seeing if my Twitter is unblocked

Ye followed that up with “Shalom,” a greeting in Hebrew.

Shalom : )

Following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, the tweets represent the return of another contentious personality to the social media platform. The multibillionaire businessman declared on Saturday that he will restore former President Donald Trump’s account.

Ye never experienced an outright Twitter ban, in contrast to Trump. Instead, the business temporarily blocked his account on October 10 after the rapper tweeted a number of antisemitic comments that turned into threats and vile insults about Jews.

After October 9, Ye didn’t tweet again until Nov. 3. When Twitter unlocked his account is unknown.

Late in October, Musk declared that he was not responsible for Ye’s account being reinstated.

Ye’s account was restored by Twitter before the acquisition. They did not consult with or inform me.

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 28, 2022

Ye agreed to purchase the conservative social media site Parler in reaction to his lockout on Twitter last month.

Major corporate partners have terminated their contracts with the rapper Ye as a result of his antisemitic remarks.

Adidas ended its collaboration with Ye last month, and Gap and Foot Locker announced they would stop carrying the rapper’s Yeezy line of clothing.
