To build an electric vehicle brand, the tech and automotive behemoths formed Sony Honda Mobility last year. On Wednesday, they revealed its name at CES: Afeela.
Using sensing and network IT technologies, “Afeela represents an interactive interaction where individuals “feel” mobility as an intelligent entity and mobility “feels” people and society, according to the business.
The brand’s first vehicle, which will be produced in the United States beginning in 2026, featured the name on a prototype.
The four-door car has straightforward design and a sizable array of technology.
It has 45 Sony-made sensors, including cameras, radar, and lidar, both inside and out, which enable its safety, partially autonomous driving, and interactive features.
Digital dashboard displays, two additional screens for the backseat passengers, and sideview mirrors with cameras—which are currently illegal in the United States—are all included in the interior.
The electronics feature infotainment software created by Epic Games and are powered by the potent Qualcomm Snapdragon Digital Chassis.
Its MSRP, driving range, powertrain details, and exact manufacturing site were all kept a secret.
Honda and General Motors will jointly introduce the all-electric Prologue SUV the next year, but the company is also constructing its own battery and electric vehicle manufacturing facilities in Ohio, which are expected to start producing these products in 2026.
