This notification implies that users of these Windows versions must update to Windows 10 or 11 in order to keep utilizing the software.
Although some Windows 7 customers continued to receive support, such as critical security updates, through Microsoft’s ESU program for Windows 8 or 8.1, the majority of it came to a stop in January 2020 because the company has stated it will not prolong a comparable ESU program.
According to a statement posted on its website, Microsoft will no longer offer technical assistance for any problems, software upgrades, or security patches or fixes, even though devices running Windows 8.1 will continue to function.
Since Windows 7 is installed on more than 11% of computers globally, compared to 2.59 percent for Windows 8.1, a large number of people would be impacted by this new upgrade from Microsoft. The study also showed that 68 percent of computers run the more modern Windows 10, while only 17 percent of devices use Windows 11.
