The court removed Ademola Adeleke as the state’s validly elected governor on Friday, January 27, 2023.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was also ordered by the court to revoke Adeleke’s Certificate of Return and declare Gboyega Oyetola the legitimate winner of the governorship race in 2022.

While ecstatic Oyetola supporters congratulated the outgoing governor, others eagerly anticipated Adeleke and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state’s next move. Adeleke has promised his followers that the verdict will be appealed in the interim.
He stated: “I want to take this chance to ask our people to maintain their composure. We will challenge the ruling, and we are confident that justice will be served. Please be confident that we will make every effort to uphold this highly regarded mandate. God speed to Osun!”
