Bola Tinubu, the newly elected president, has urged his fellow candidates, including Peter Obi of the Labor Party and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to work with him to make Nigeria a great country.
After Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), pronounced Tinubu the winner of Saturday’s presidential election, Tinubu made this call in his acceptance speech.
The APC candidate reminded the other competitors that the only nation they could call their own is Nigeria.
“I take this opportunity to ask my fellow competitors to allow us to form a team. We just have this one nation. We must work together to develop this one nation. We’ll work together to put broken pieces together. We must try to keep Nigeria united, content, and harmonious.
We must avoid behaving like the orchestra without a conductor. We choose our conductor. Let’s work together.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Nigerians for electing me as their president. I sincerely thank you, and I mean that.
“Whether you are BATFIELD, ATIKULATE, OBIDIENT, or KWANKWASIYA, I applaud you for taking part in democracy and voting for a better Nigeria.
“A new dawn of hope has come to Nigeria; I stand for that promise, and with your help, that promise will come true.
“I thank President Muhammadu Buhari, his wife, and the entire family for their dedication to democracy. They remain focused, dedicated, patriotic, and firm.
“Despite having numerous opportunities to desert the party, you, the progressive governors, enabled my victory. I can’t let you down on purpose.
“Let’s work together; it’s the only country we have.
“Let’s work together to create a symphony to better the country.”
“To the Youths, I hear you loud and clear; we are going together to improve the country. I’ll give your education my full attention. There will be access to student loans and an end to strikes. Our universities will be independent. I am aware of the hurt, but trust me when I say you will recognize the benefits of choosing me.
He claimed that Nigeria does miracles in other nations and added, “We can do it here.”
I pledge to work with you to make Nigeria a place where people want to return to help with the growth of our country, he continued.
