The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has officially proclaimed Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, as the new president-elect and handed him his certificate of return.
Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who received 6,984,520 votes, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, who received 6,101,533 votes, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, who received 1,496,687 votes, were all defeated by Tinubu, who received 8,794,726 votes.
The PDP and LP, two of the biggest opposition parties, have both questioned his election as well as the results of the entire 2023 presidential election.
