According to Dnipropetrovsk Governor Valentyn Reznichenko, a missile that struck an apartment building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Saturday has already claimed the lives of 29 individuals, with an additional 40 people still missing.

A search effort that has been going on for more than 24 hours, according to Reznichenko, has engaged 550 personnel. They included volunteers, physicians, police, and rescuers.

A 27-year-old lady was extricated from the wreckage on Sunday. She was treated in an intensive care unit at a hospital after being diagnosed with acute hypothermia, according to Reznichenko.

39 people of the damaged building were saved, the governor continued. Thirty of the 73 strike-related injuries were hospitalized, including 12 with serious wounds.

The attack, which was launched by a Russian Kh-22 missile, destroyed around 70 apartments, according to the Ukrainian military. The Ukrainian military lack the requisite air defense to shoot down the missile because it is known to be inaccurate.

Emergency personnel claimed to have heard screaming coming from underneath the building’s debris. The frigid temperatures, which were around one degree Celsius, presented rescuers with even more difficulties (33 degrees Fahrenheit).
